Don’t Put Off Your Happy Life, Live It Up Now! Easier said than done. We are so busy as a society that I think people forget about enjoying the little things in life and being happy as part of that equation. As part of our Gratitude series, we are focusing on this expression for this month.
By looking at the saying at hand, the colors of the journaling are a mix of every color of the rainbow. Based on these colors, we have chosen a 12 x 12 bright multi-colored background with shades of hot pink, light blue, peach, yellow and olive green. This background was chosen to give a deeper emphasis to the colors in the journaling card.
The focal point of the layout is the journaling card. We are going to create our layout around the journaling card. We are now going to look at the colors and designs around the journaling card. Based on the colors from the journaling card we want to find a background page and borders to help bring out the colors of the journaling card and bring the saying to the forefront.
With that being said, the background page has been chosen, and now we need to think about the borders that we want to create. As our readers now, we use a layering technique to create a dimensional look and feel to the layout. We started with using a border with light pink and white. We chose this border based on the light pink in the background page along with choosing a peach border to place under the journaling card.
As our readers know, we like to use embellishments along with paper die cuts to add dimension to our layouts. Based on the colors in the layout, we chose die cuts and stickers that would compliment the layout we just created. First, we thought about what we think about when we hear the words “happy life.” To people “happy life” might be having a family, a successful career, a lot of friends, having adventure. There is no right or wrong answer. It is one of those questions that have a personal definition.
The embellishments, die cuts, and stickers used for this layout depict the gratitude saying: “Don’t Put Off Your Happy Life, Live It Up Now! We used a journaling card that represents discover the word by having a representation of the world, and we also have a sticker of a stack of books that we placed right over the world. The map of the world and a stack of books, have the same meaning but are used in a different context. A Happy Life could mean discovering the world, or have adventures. Traveling the world, or discovering the world through reading many books can accomplish these two. A journaling card of an ampersand was placed in the layout to say, adventure through books, and physically going on an adventure. Die cuts of hearts we created to represent love and the die cuts of the leaves around the journaling card represent nature. A Happy Life can have love and nature as well as adventure. You do not need all three to have a Happy Life. A person can have all three or just one aspect. Just ask the glamorous lady we placed in our layout.
Let the words take center stage and there is no need for photos. The use of background paper, embellishments, die cuts, and stickers will help us create a world of gratitude. Thanks for stopping by and stay tuned for our Gratitude page for July.
