As the year comes to an end, it is a time for reflection of the year past. As we put the current year behind, and look forward to the New Year ahead, we have chosen a saying that speaks of the every day. Our saying this month is as follows: “Every day may not be good day, but there is something good in every day.”

To start we want to pick a 12 x 12 background sheet that has colors that are represented in the saying. The background that was chosen is an orange polka dot sheet. When looking at the journaling card, there orange in part of the saying. We wanted to emphasize the color orange in the journaling card, so in order to make orange stand out a bit more from the journaling card you want to choose a background color that will compliment the colors in the journaling card.

Based on the colors of the background page, we now want to think about adding borders and if we want to frame for the saying. As we noted earlier, there are various colors in the saying. As of now we have a background page that has the orange color of the journaling card, and we want to give more emphasis on the journaling card. After all, we want our audience to drawn to the saying on the page. In order to achieve this, we need to pick other elements such as a border with colors that will help bring out the various colors in the journaling card. The use of borders is a great way to add a bit of color to your scrapbook layouts.

Our scrapbook layout is starting to take some shape. Let’s continue to build on keeping the saying of our layout being the focal point and using different shades of color to draw the eye of our audience to the journaling card. Two 6 x 6 borders were placed on the page. The 6 x 6 squares are a nice contrast to the orange polka dot background. The different colors of blue and brown blend nicely not to over power the background page.

The layout is almost complete. We have placed the background sheets and borders down, now it is time to add some die cuts to the mix. When thinking about the saying at hand, the main idea is to enjoy everyday. When thinking about there being good in every day, nature comes to mind. In this case, clouds and birds flying in the sky come to mind. The cloud paper die cuts were placed and glued down on the layout. Next the bird paper die cuts were glued down. One last thing that we added to the layout was a whimsical swirl underneath the journaling card to emphasis the saying.

Let the words take center stage and there is no need for photos. The use of background paper, embellishments, die cuts, and stickers will help us create a world of gratitude. Thanks for stopping by. Happy Holidays, and may you find the good in every day.
